Barihan Elementary School
June 9, 2025

Marking the official launch of Brigada Eskwela 2025 — the Department of Education’s (DepEd) nationwide school maintenance program held simultaneously across all public schools in the country, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inspection of repair and preparation efforts at Barihan Elementary School in Malolos, Bulacan.

The President personally checked the progress of classroom repairs, particularly ceilings, windows and doors to ensure safety and structural integrity. He also inspected newly delivered digital tablets and school bags prepared for learners, and helped install a new blackboard in one of the classrooms.

Through the spirit of bayanihan, Brigada Eskwela 2025 brought together teachers, parents, local government units (LGUs) and volunteers. Throughout the week, participants work hand in hand in cleaning, painting, repairing furniture and upgrading school facilities in preparation for the return of students to in-person classes.

Running from June 9 to 13, this year’s Brigada Eskwela carries the theme ‘Sama-Sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa’, underscoring the critical link between community involvement and literacy development. The Program highlights DepEd’s call for shared responsibility in creating safe, functional and literacy-friendly learning environments ahead of the opening of Academic Year 2025–2026.
