Lauding the enduring legacy of a military institution built by the fortitude of its men and women, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graced the 127th Philippine Navy (PN) anniversary at the Naval Operating Base – Subic in Zambales.

Upon arrival, the Commander-in-Chief viewed the static display and miniature models of the Navy’s newly acquired assets and led the christening rites and commissioning ceremony of the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) and BRP Albert Majini (PG909).

BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) is a guided-missile frigate equipped for anti-ship, anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and electronic warfare systems. This 118-meter vessel features advanced sensors and weapons systems designed for long-range and multi-role combat operations. It was named after the last Filipino general to surrender during the Philippine-American War.

BRP Albert Majini (PG909) is the first locally assembled missile-capable patrol vessel in the country. It is built for rapid interdiction and coastal operations under the Navy’s Littoral Combat Force. It was named after Medal of Valor awardee Ensign Albert Majini for his gallantry during anti-piracy operations in Basilan in 1980.

In his keynote message, President Marcos Jr. emphasized that the Philippines will continue to stand firm and will never tolerate any act of disrespect against the nation’s sovereignty. He noted that in every mission, the Navy has proven its commitment to duty as clearly seen in the West Philippine Sea and other maritime outposts.

He expressed his deepest appreciation to the Philippine Navy for their sacrifices, discipline, excellence, resolve and love for country as they consistently show what real service is to the Filipino people.
