Batangas City
May 3, 2025
Just days before the 2025 National and Local Elections, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged the vote-rich Province of Batangas to support the senatorial slate of ‘Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas,’ emphasizing that this support is crucial for sustaining the nation’s economic gains and social transformation under the Administration’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ brand of governance.
Speaking before thousands of Batangueños in attendance at the Batangas Sports Coliseum in Batangas City, President Marcos Jr. championed the Administration’s senatorial candidates, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining the momentum of development over the next three (3) years under his leadership.
The Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the local government units (LGUs) for their support and outlined key programs and initiatives to be prioritized for the second half of his term.
These include addressing critical challenges in the agriculture sector, such as the construction of 150 rice processing plants over the past two (2) years. An additional 20 rice processing facilities are slated for construction in 2025, with plans to begin building 50 more.
He also highlighted the inauguration of the Philippines’ first coconut processing plant — the Integrated Coconut Processing Facility (ICPF) in Misamis Oriental — which he intends to be replicated in other regions. This initiative aims to boost local coconut production and expand export markets abroad.
Infrastructure development remains a top priority, especially in alleviating worsening traffic congestion, particularly in Metro Manila. He mentioned the ongoing construction of the Metro Manila Subway — the country’s first subway — which is expected to be completed in 2028.
Other projects mentioned include the construction of dams and flood control structures, as well as water embankments for irrigation. He also discussed the government’s initiative to unify the country’s power lines under ‘One Grid Philippines,’ ensuring continuous electricity distribution. Additionally, he assured that internet connectivity would be prioritized this year, especially in underserved areas, with the goal that every Filipino will have access to the internet before his term ends.
As the midterm elections approach, President Marcos Jr. urged Batangueños to support the ‘Alyansa’ senatorial candidates to ensure the continuation of these government programs and projects — and to realize the aspirations of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ that future generations will enjoy.
With a voter turnout of 87.26% in the 2022 elections, Batangas is expected to remain a key battleground for voter mobilization and political momentum in the upcoming midterm polls.
