“Lagi po ninyong tandaan na kami sa pamahalaan ay walang tigil sa pagbibigay ng suporta sa inyong mga pangangailangan upang mapabuti ang sektor – mapabuti, mapatibay, mapalakas, at mapalaki ang sektor ng agrikultura,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remarked during the inauguration of the Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) Grains Terminal and Trading Project at Barangay Simlong in Batangas City.
The President said that the project, a collaboration among the SIDC, the Batangas City local government and the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDC), was initiated to address shortages in livestock and poultry feeds.
He highlighted that with funding from the DA and the World Bank, the PhP278.3-million facility was built to house two silos capable of storing 12,000 metric tons of corn equivalent to 480,000 sacks of animal feed.
He also underscored that the facility would not only improve post-harvest storage and stabilize feed supply, but also guarantee a steady income for farmers and agribusinesses in Batangas and across the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Region.
Moreover, the Chief Executive assured the public that the Administration remains committed to empowering farmers with new technologies to enhance productivity and profitability.
The President further emphasized that these investments would reduce post-harvest losses, lower food prices and increase efficiency in farming operations.
