President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. welcomed His Excellency Eduardo Antonio Young Virzi, the incoming Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the Philippines, as he formally presented his letter of credence in a ceremony at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace.
In his brief remarks, the Panamanian Ambassador expressed his enthusiasm for furthering bilateral relations and exploring additional avenues of cooperation, especially in the fields of education, tourism, arts and culture.
“Panama considers the Philippines and the ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] Bloc strategic partners in the Asian region. I look forward to increasing synergies between our countries, particularly in trade and commerce, by strengthening initiatives that benefit our people and our international community,” said the Ambassador.
For his part, President Marcos Jr. conveyed his appreciation to the Panamanian Ambassador. “We are happy to welcome you to the Philippines, and we know that your time here will be a productive one in terms of making our countries closer than they already are and in finding more ways to interact with each other,” he said.
This year, the Philippines and Panama are set to celebrate 79 years of diplomatic relations since it was established on July 4, 1946.
