President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. formally accepted the letter of credence of Her Excellency Anna Pernilla Ferry, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Philippines, during the presentation of credentials in Malacañan Palace.

Ambassador Ferry conveyed that Sweden views the Philippines as a priority partner, stressing that both countries share common values such as respect for human rights, upholding democracy and pursuit of progress.

She emphasized that Sweden supports the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the freedom of navigation.

In response, President Marcos Jr. stated that the Swedish envoy came to the Philippines at a particularly auspicious time when the development of relations between the two countries had grown significantly.

The Philippines and Sweden established diplomatic relations on 17 January 1947 and have cooperated rapidly in trade and investments.
