“I have watched the design community become better and better and better in the Philippines and approaching world-class. Now, I would even go so far as to say that now we are, in many cases that I’ve seen here today, surpassed world-class. We are better than others,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as he lauded the creativity and world-class talent of Filipino designers during Manila FAME 2024 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The President commended the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for its efforts in promoting Filipino products internationally.

“I’m sure anyone who is in a market for these designs, whether it be furniture or fashion, everything else that we’ve seen today. I am so confident that we will do well in the world market,” he remarked.

The Chief Executive also expressed confidence that with government support, local enterprises, particularly medium-scale businesses, could successfully penetrate the global market, especially through digital platforms.

Highlighting the economic impact of the design industry, the President revealed that it contributed around 7.1 to 7.2 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), amounting to trillions of pesos.

“We will do everything that we can so that the world will know even better how good Filipinos are. Iyong galing ng Pinay makita ng buong mundo,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
