“The inauguration of the StB Giga Factory is a remarkable example of what happens when our national agenda of promoting clean energy intersects with a solid commitment from the private sector… It sends this message to the world: The Philippines is ready — to innovate, to lead and to become the go-to destination for high-tech, high-impact investments,” announced President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. when he led the switch-on ceremony at the Filinvest Innovation Park in New Clark City, Tarlac.

The StBattalion (StB) Giga — the first of its kind in the Philippines dedicated to advanced lithium-iron-phosphate batteries — marks a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy landscape. This facility is expected to produce two (2) gigawatt-hours of batteries annually by 2030, translating to power for approximately 18,000 electric vehicles (EVs) or nearly half a million home battery systems.

In his message, President Marcos Jr. highlighted the factory’s potential economic impact, projecting an annual contribution of PhP5 billion to the Philippine economy and the creation of 2,500 jobs for local communities.

“As the first manufacturing plant in the Philippines for advanced iron phosphate batteries, often used in renewable energy and electric vehicles, the StB Giga Factory sets the stage for the country to become a key player in clean energy storage in Southeast Asia, in our region,” he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized the opportunities to nurture and promote homegrown talent, with StB Giga committing to enhancing local engineering expertise through partnerships with academic and industry institutions.

The inauguration follows a pledge made during the Philippine Business Forum in Australia earlier this year, showcasing a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors to drive sustainable development. The President urged entrepreneurs and industry leaders to invest in the Philippines, assuring them of a robust infrastructure and a skilled workforce ready to support innovative ventures.

As the country continues its transition toward renewable energy, the StB Giga is set to play a crucial role in attracting further investments in the sector. The Chief Executive reiterated that renewable energy sources and electric vehicles are not merely options but essential pathways to combat climate change and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

In closing, President Marcos Jr. expressed gratitude to the team behind the StB Giga for their commitment to this visionary project. “You have established a foundation for a cleaner, greener and more prosperous Bagong Pilipinas,” he said, rallying the nation to embrace the changes ahead.
