As the Administration continues to value the crucial role of the country’s creative industries in nation-building and socioeconomic progress under a ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’ the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council (PCIDC) officially launched the nationwide celebration of the Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) in a press conference at the Manila Hotel in the City of Manila.

This year’s PCIM aims to establish a whole-of-government approach by engaging key government agencies and other stakeholders to amplify the messages of the month-long celebration, which primarily focuses on championing initiatives that will empower Filipino artists both here and abroad, in all sectors of the creative industry.

In her remarks, DTI Acting Secretary and PCIDC Chairperson Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque reassured the Agency’s full commitment to prioritize the welfare of every Filipino creative artist who continues to establish the Philippines as Asia’s next creative hub.

“DTI is not just preparing for a month-long celebration but preparing the very best of what it is to be a Filipino. The creative sector is a dynamic force, an economic powerhouse that drives growth, sparks innovation and embodies the spirit of our nation,” she said.

“This September, let us awaken the world to the depth and vibrancy of our creativity. From the bustling city centers to the tranquil corners of our provinces. Let every street, every home and every Filipino become a stage for our creative brilliance,” the Acting Secretary added.

Pursuant to Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), the PCIM is celebrated annually for the whole month of September to raise awareness on the creative industries’ contributions to the nation’s overall progress.

With this year’s theme, ‘#WeAreACreativeNation,’ the 2024 PCIM aims to celebrate the diverse range of Filipino talents throughout the nation in various creative fields such as music, visual arts, film and literature, among others. It also highlights the thriving contributions of the creative industries in the economic growth of the country, as well as underscores the importance of supporting the growth of the sector through policies, infrastructure, education and collaborative initiatives.
