“Today’s event is a significant undertaking for TESDA as it serves as a prelude to our country’s hosting the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition next year in 2025… The best skilled young professionals who will emerge as winners of this competition will also get the opportunity to honor and represent our country in international competitions,” said Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Jose Francisco Benitez during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Focusing on the theme, ‘Empowering the Future: Advancing Skills for Tomorrow,’ the event recognized the skills excellence of Filipino young industry-skilled workers and graduates of technical vocational schools and training centers.
A total of 250 regional representatives from across the country are participating in 25 different skill areas, namely Cybersecurity, Information Network Cabling, Information Technology (IT) Network Systems Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Web Technologies, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Maintenance, Electronics, Carpentry, Mechatronics, Welding, Cabinet Making, Cooking, Hotel Reception, Plumbing and Heating, Hairdressing, Wall and Floor Tiling, Mechanical Engineering Computer-aided Design (CAD), Restaurant Service, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Beauty Therapy, Bakery, Electrical Installations, Fashion Technology, Graphic Design Technology and Automobile Technology.
The public, including students, various industry sectors and all Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders are invited to witness the competition happening at the World Trade Center from August 22 to 24. Skills demonstration and technology exhibit are also part of the event.
