The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) officially kicked off a weeklong celebration of its 30th founding anniversary dubbed, ‘TESDA 30th: Continuing Legacy of Empowering Filipinos, Elevating Global Competence’, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

During the program, former TESDA Director-General Suharto Mangudadatu received a plaque of recognition for his invaluable service to the Filipino people after significantly leading the innovative transformation of the Agency’s development programs in the country.

“It is a mix of gratitude and humility that I am turning over the leadership of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA to our former colleague Congressman – Director General Jose Francisco ‘Kiko’ Benitez… As I pass the torch [to] the next Director General, I am confident that TESDA will continue to thrive and fulfill a vital role in nation building,” said outgoing Secretary Mangudadatu in his short message.

For his part, newly appointed TESDA Director General Jose Francisco Benitez expressed his profound gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for entrusting him with the important role of enhancing the employability of the country’s workforce through Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“Gusto ko rin po bigyan ng pugay si Secretary Teng Mangudadatu… Salutations, Sir. Mataas po ang respeto namin sa inyo; saludo po ako sa inyo sa mahaba at magandang records ninyo sa public service… Be assured, Secretary Mangudadatu that we will build on your accomplishments and continue your initiatives,” TESDA Director General Benitez remarked.

As part of the anniversary celebration, TESDA prepared various activities for its upcoming events including the TVET Forum, 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC), Institutional Awards, Education and Career Guidance for Senior High School (SHS) / TVET Learners, Celebrating the Tech-Voc Day and World Café Opportunities.
