Concluding the 2024 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Discussions, government officials gathered at the Hilton Hotel in Pasay City on July 24, 2024 to address critical issues concerning good governance, peace and order, and security.

Among the topics discussed was the importance of adhering to proper diplomatic channels and mechanisms based on international rules, with the government aiming to enhance its international role and align its actions with global standards for a more stable and cooperative global environment.

The Session also highlighted the government’s ‘Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan’ (BIDA) Program, a comprehensive strategy to combat illegal drug activities through a coordinated approach involving law enforcement, community outreach and rehabilitation efforts.

Other key issues included the urgent need to tackle organized crime, such as financial scams, money laundering, human trafficking, prostitution and kidnapping, with officials emphasizing the serious threats these activities pose to national security and public welfare.

The discussions further focused on enhancing aerial and maritime domain awareness to improve the country’s ability to monitor and respond to potential threats by investing in advanced surveillance technologies and strengthening coordination among defense and security agencies.

Participants also reviewed efforts to decrease the overall crime rate and enhance crime resolution efficiency, covering strategies to improve law enforcement capabilities, streamline judicial procedures and increase inter-agency cooperation.
