“Narito ang inyong pamahalaan ngayon upang iparamdam ang aming suporta sa inyo na walang pagod na nagsisikap upang matiyak na mayroong pagkain sa hapag ang bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remarked as he led the distribution of assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and their families in a program at the Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU) in Calbayog City, Samar.

In his message, the President acknowledged the hard work and sacrifices of farmers and fisherfolk, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring food security for Filipino families.

“Ang inyong kasipagan at katatagan ang nagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa aming lahat,” he said, noting the severe impact of El Niño in over 3,000 families within three (3) municipalities in Samar and Eastern Samar, which had declared a state of calamity due to extreme drought.

The Chief Executive also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway which has a budget allocation of over PhP1.41 billion. These projects aim to enhance the Region’s economy by improving transportation and preventing flooding through initiatives such as the Catbalogan Drainage System.

Addressing the issue of insurgency, the President praised the progress made in achieving peace, noting that five (5) municipalities now have a stable internal peace and security status.

“Mabuhay ang ating mga magsasaka! Mabuhay ang ating mga mangingisda! Mabuhay ang pamilyang Pilipino sa Bagong Pilipinas!” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
