President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan of Malaysia in a courtesy call at the Study Room, Malacañan Palace.

This is the inaugural official visit of the Malaysian Foreign Minister to the Philippines since assuming office in December 2023. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), his trip aims to build on the successes of the high-level visits in 2023 as well as to engage on the current state of Philippines-Malaysia relations and other regional and international developments.

Apart from President Marcos Jr., the Malaysian Foreign Minister held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo.

Both countries are also working to convene the 8th Bilateral Joint Commission Meeting which was held in Manila more than a decade ago.
