President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened with key members from the Senate and House of Representatives (HOR) for the 5th Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) Meeting at the Kalayaan Hall, Malacañan Palace.
Today’s LEDAC Meeting touched on the status of 20 priority measures set for passage by the end of June this year. Senate President Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez reported that out of these 20 priority measures, three (3) have already been passed into law, namely Republic Act (RA) No. 11995 or the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Act, passed in May 2024; RA No. 12000 or the Negros Island Region Act, passed in June 2024; and RA No. 12001 or the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA), passed in June 2024.
Also on the agenda were the bills proposed for inclusion in the LEDAC Common Legislative Agenda (CLA). National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan discussed that there are 59 CLA bills proposed for the 19th Congress under the Administration. Of this number, 17 have already been passed into law.
The LEDAC acts as a consultative and advisory body to the incumbent President, discussing matters relevant to the implementation of programs and policies essential to the realization of the goals of the national economy. It also serves as a venue for facilitating high-level policy discussions on issues and concerns affecting national development.
