“Bringing the Pasig River back to life mirrors our ongoing journey towards a brighter future for our country,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed as he and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos led the inauguration of the Pasig River Urban Development Showcase Area Phase 1C at Plaza Mexico, Magallanes Drive in Intramuros, City of Manila.
The ceremony celebrated the completion of a 500-meter showcase area in the Manila Old Downtown Segment, an integral part of the ‘Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli’ (PBBM) project.
In his keynote message, the President highlighted the importance of the project in his Administration’s broader vision of sustainable urban development.
“Five months ago, when we opened the first phases of this endeavor to the public, I made a declaration — a promise — that ‘I am all fully in’ on this project, and that the First Lady and I would also be among the foremost advocates and proponents for its completion,” he stated.
He also emphasized the project’s alignment with environmental sustainability goals, noting that “the structures within the project are designed to utilize renewable energy and promote ecological practices.”
The Chief Executive acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various government agencies and private sector partners, particularly the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development (IAC-PRUD) in realizing the project.
“Let us work together to make this happen so that we can realize our promise to the Filipino people — a safe, comfortable, productive, sustainable, and peaceful future for everyone,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
