President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed his warmest welcome to Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjárto in a courtesy call at the Study Room, Malacañan Palace.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Hungarian Foreign Minister is undertaking an Official Visit to the Philippines, marking his third trip to the country in his current role. He previously paid a visit in 2017 where he met then-acting DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo and in 2020, engaging with then Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.

His visit also coincides with the ongoing celebrations of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Philippines. Hungary is among the key partners of the country in different fields, including education, water technology, agriculture, culture and sports.

The partnership between the two nations is marked by a shared commitment to democracy, rule of law and adherence to international law.

During their meeting, President Marcos Jr. expressed his hopes towards forging new relations with Hungary.
