President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the 2nd Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Conference at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil provided brief updates on the PNP’s campaign against eight (8) focus crimes, namely robbery, theft, physical injuries, rape, motorcycle theft, car theft, homicide and murder. He also reported their anti-cybercrime accomplishments for the period of 1 July 2022 to 31 May 2024, as well as their accomplishments on the fight against illegal drug trade within the same period, along with other operational accomplishments such as the campaign against kidnap for ransom and wanted persons.

Furthermore, he discussed the PNP’s recent simultaneous showdown of its disaster response equipment capabilities held last 28 May 2024.

Relative to the Presidential directive during the 1st PNP Command Conference on improving communications systems, General Marbil reported the PNP’s measures to strengthening its information systems, cybersecurity capabilities and the nationwide emergency hotline 911.

Other topics in the agenda included the preparations for upcoming major events, PNP priority bills and ways forward.

To this end, President Marcos Jr. commended the PNP for managing to bring down the number of its focus crimes despite the limitations. He also lauded the Police’s efforts in battling illegal drugs, the Organization’s effective disaster response and preparedness, and all other measures in maintaining peace and order.

He further noted the need to improve the PNP’s cybersecurity capabilities, particularly in detecting and prosecuting those indicated in reports. He ordered the entire Police force to keep working hard to improve its cyber facilities, alongside other government agencies and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The President conveyed that the PNP performance is steadily improving and that the Administration will continue supporting them in their needs.
