Shortly after his arrival, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. proceeded to the Istana Nurul Iman (Palace of the Light of Faith), the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and seat of government of Brunei Darussalam, for an official welcome ceremony.

The two leaders stepped on the special dais where they received the salute of honor and for the playing of the two national anthems during which a 21-gun salute was fired, signifying the highest honor and respect accorded to the visiting Philippine leader.

Thereafter, His Majesty invited the President to inspect the Guard of Honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The official welcome ceremony concluded with the two Southeast Asian leaders introducing their respective delegation.
