As the nation commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City.

The President toured the VMMC’s Renal Dialysis Center, where he interacted with several staff and patients of the hospital, including Joy De Leon Gines who has been working at VMMC for more than 30 years and was assigned to care for Mrs. Josefa Marcos, the President’s grandmother, in 1988.

After touring the facilities, President Marcos Jr. met with the VMMC officials to discuss the operations and mandate of the hospital, including ways to improve the facilities and cater to the needs of its patients who are mostly war veterans and uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). During the meeting, the President handed over a total of PhP150 million assistance to the VMMC.

In an interview with RTVM, VMMC Administrator Dr. Peter Paul Reuben Galvez underscored the Commander in Chief’s visit as an opportune time to boost the morale of the hospital’s healthcare workers and develop ways to further enhance the capabilities of VMMC as one of the country’s premier medical institutions, noting the hospital’s unyielding commitment to support the Administration’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ in terms of strengthening the healthcare system for the Filipino people.
