Cagayan de Oro City
March 21, 2024
Continuing the Administration’s initiative aimed at fostering media literacy among the Filipino youth, students of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Cagayan de Oro City are given the unique opportunity to operate cutting-edge broadcast equipment during the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) CommUnity Caravan at the USTP Gymnasium from March 20 to 21, 2024.
As part of the Caravan’s final leg in Mindanao, this two-day event provides a platform for students to engage directly with state-of-the-art equipment from leading news agencies under the PCO umbrella, including the People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTV); Radyo Pilipinas News (RP1); Philippine Information Agency (PIA); Philippine News Agency (PNA); and the Presidential Broadcast Staff-Radio Television Malacañang (PBS-RTVM).
Through hands-on training sessions and a media literacy campaign program, students gain practical insights into the operation of modern broadcast technologies, enhancing their understanding of media production processes and techniques, thereby enabling them to become more discerning about the information shared on social media platforms.
As part of the Caravan’s fun activities, USTP students are also encouraged to audition and potentially be invited to perform at the ‘Konsyerto sa Palasyo’ and serenade the nation’s celebrated contemporary heroes and the First Family in Malacañan Palace.
