“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. paid a visit and checked the condition of wounded-in-action (WIA) soldiers currently admitted at the Philippine Army (PA) General Hospital in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The President conferred the Gold Cross Medal, Military Merit Medal and Wounded Personnel Medal to four (4) Philippine Army WIA officers who encountered the Dawlah Islamiah-Maute Group in Piagapo, Lanao del Sur last January 2024. He also handed them financial assistance from the Office of the President (OP) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Likewise, the Commander-in-Chief visited and provided assistance to other WIA soldiers at the nearby wards who sustained injuries during their respective military operations in various parts of the country.

Among those who accompanied the President during the visit included Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Secretary Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr., Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner and Lieutenant General Roy Galido (PA Commanding General).
