The Prime Minister is the Head of Government whose role is to guide the work of the Government and local administration. He is appointed or removed by the President of the Republic after the approval of the National Assembly. Thongsing Thammavong is the current Prime Minister of Lao PDR and he recently conducted a State Visit to the Philippines on May 2012.

The Prime Minister’s Office is an organization within the organization of the Government’s machinery. Its role is to assist the Government, coordinate and summarize all questions related to the work of the Government, study and facilitate the implementation of the work of the Government, Prime Minister and other organizations under direct authority of the Government. It is located near Patuxai Monument along Long Xang Avenue.
