President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marco attended a dinner hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his spouse, Mrs. Yuko Kishida, at The State Guest House, Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Japan.

President Marcos Jr. is in Tokyo to participate in the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, billed as the final ASEAN-related event of the year.

In reinforcing the Administration’s commitment to fostering economic development, the Chief Executive continues to shepherd ASEAN initiatives and projects with Japan. This collaboration aims not only to co-create a region of economic prosperity but also an inclusive society that is prepared for the future.

The Philippines-Japan relations date back to July 23, 1956. Since then, Japan has become the Philippines’ top strategic partner, with a total of 264 bilateral agreements in place. These agreements cover various areas, including the transfer of defense equipment and technology, infrastructure development, and initiatives for the progress of Mindanao.
