December 5, 2023

As the Administration remains relentless in campaigning for media and information literacy, and promoting freedom of speech that are crucial in achieving ‘Bagong Pilipinas’, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) officially launches the first CommUnity Caravan at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) in Intramuros, Manila on December 5, 2023.

The Caravan takes place in line with the nation’s observance of ‘Communications Month’ last October 2023, pursuant to Proclamation No. 308 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The said celebration, which revolved around the theme, ‘CommUNITY: Nagkakaisang Tinig Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas’, sought to magnify and showcase unity among government institutions by illustrating a whole-of-government approach in combating misinformation and disinformation while fostering a sense of unity among students and the youth.

It features exhibition of booths from different agencies under the PCO and other partners, where they engage with students as they introduce and demonstrate their respective offices’ line of work geared towards bringing government programs and services closer to the Filipino people anywhere in the country and abroad.

These participating agencies also open their doors for individuals aspiring to become government reporters and the like, as well as for students who want to take their on-the-job trainings (OJT) under the official communications arm of the President and attached agencies.

The Konsyerto sa Palasyo (KSP), through its designated booth, likewise extends an invitation to those who want to showcase their talents and take part in the concert that celebrates the feats of the country’s modern-day heroes.

The Caravan further highlights the PCO’s Media and Information Literacy Campaign (MIL) project, aiming to be a key solution in countering misinformation and disinformation by educating people in evaluating information sources to make them more discerning in consuming news and information, and be better equipped in identifying and avoiding false or misleading content.
