President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the 10th National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board Meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
First on the agenda was the Department of Health’s (DOH) presentation on the Dialysis Center Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project for the Renal Center Facility of the Baguio General Hospital Medical Center (BGHMC), the largest government-funded tertiary hospital in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and which has become the Dialysis Center of Northern Luzon serving patients from the Cordillera and Regions I to IV.
The proposed project aims to expand the BGHMC’s dialysis unit to 108 Hemodialysis (HD) machines, enhance service delivery of HD treatments due to expanded capacity (including back-up machines) and reduce the expenses of patients.
This is followed by the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) discussion on the upgrade, expansion, operations and maintenance of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. This aims to promote economic development as aligned with the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP), support recovery from the pandemic and integrate new concept of ‘Green’ and ‘Connected’ airports.
The Department of Finance (DOF) likewise gave an overview of the Infrastructure Preparation and Innovation Facility – Second Additional Financing (IPIF-AF2), which shall build on the achievements of the ongoing IPIF and continue to respond to the short-to-medium-term solutions aimed at enhancing the capacity of the DOTr and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for their respective infrastructure investments.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) reported on the Green Economy Program, which aims to support the country’s transition to a green economy, including a circular economy (CE) for reducing waste and plastic, as well as to increase energy efficiency and renewable energy development to support climate change mitigation.
The NEDA Board also touched on other matters, including the DOTr’s Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) Project and the DPWH’s Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) Project.
