President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received Her Excellency Constance Chemwayi, Non-Resident Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Philippines, as the latter presented her letter of credence in a ceremony at the Reception Hall in Malacañan Palace.
In her brief remarks, Ambassador-Designate Chemwayi underscored the friendly relations between the two countries that enhances the spirit of South-South Cooperation. She expressed her commitment in translating the good political relations into meaningful economic cooperation.
She also conveyed her keen interest in learning from the Philippine experience in mobilizing its citizens, especially those residing abroad.
“We found inspiration from the way your country assists citizens in the diaspora to make meaningful contribution to the economy of their country,” said the Ambassador-Designate.
Moreover, she highlighted the economic improvement in Zimbabwe and enhancement of its people’s welfare brought by the advent of the Second Republic in 2017, to which she hoped to advance the national interest and bilateral relations through these improvements.
In response, President Marcos Jr. expressed his enthusiasm and optimism toward forging bilateral partnership built on the enduring 43-year history of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Zimbabwe.
