President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened with key officials of Prime Energy Resources Development B.V., operator of the Malampaya gas-to-power project, at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
Among the discussion points were Prime Energy’s plans to explore and develop indigenous gas prospects, supplement the current indigenous gas production with liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports through a gas aggregation framework, and enable the stability, competitiveness and expansion of the country’s gas market.
The attendees included Prime Energy President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Guillame Lucci, Prime Infra Chairman Enrique K. Razon Jr. and Prime Energy General Manager Donnabel Cruz.
Prime Energy Resources Development B.V., a subsidiary of Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc., is a natural gas exploration and development company. It owns the 45% operating interest in Service Contract 38, also known as the Malampaya deep water gas-to-power project. This project plays a crucial role in supplying 20% of Luzon’s electricity needs.
In more than two decades, the Malampaya Project has been instrumental in ensuring energy security of the Philippines. It has generated significant revenues of over US$13.14 billion for the Philippine Government and has made significant contributions to the well-being of stakeholder communities through sustainable social and environmental programs.
