Arrival honors were accorded to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in a welcoming ceremony by President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

With both leaders receiving a fresh mandate in their respective elections, the state visit sets the tone of bilateral relations between the two countries in the next six years.

First Lady Atty. Louise Araneta Marcos joined the President in the ceremony. Upon their arrival, President Xi Jinping and Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan conveyed their warmest welcome.

Thereafter, each leader introduced several of his Cabinet ministers and delegation.

The Philippines and China established diplomatic relations on June 9, 1975. Both countries have maintained frequent high level contacts and exchanges of visits at all levels in various sectors.
