United Nations (UN) Headquarters, New York
May 18, 2022

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) joined the other United Nations (UN) Member States in the Policy Debate of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) 2022 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

In the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (also known as Global Compact for Migration or GCM) — the first ever intergovernmentally negotiated UN agreement on managing international migration — Member States decided to conduct the IMRF every four (4) years beginning this year to discuss and share progress on their respective implementation of the Global Compact. Facilitated by the Coordinator of the UN Network on Migration, the Policy Debate tackled the challenges in implementing the GCM including links with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the capacity-building mechanism, and contemporary and emerging issues related to migration.
