President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reminded the 229 graduating cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) not to step out of their legal boundaries once they begin the conduct of their duty during the 43rd Commencement Exercises of the PNPA for Bachelor of Science in Public Safety (BSPS) ‘Alab-Kalis’ Class of 2022.
“Do not go out of your legal parameters. Iyong tama lang na trabaho ng pulis pati alam niya ang obligasyon sa taong bayan,” said the Commander-in-Chief during his remarks at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.
“If you have not studied it sa Criminal Law, then somebody would tell you na ito ang trabaho ninyo at huwag kayong umalis diyan sa boundaries ng parameters legally. Iyon lang ang gusto kong sabihin sa inyo na galing sa puso ko,” he added, noting that police are also government workers and as such, are not superior to anybody.
Of the 229 PNPA graduates, 206 are joining the Philippine National Police (PNP), 12 have chosen the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and 11 graduates will join the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
“I urge you to sustain the same level of courage, determination and passion in the performance of your duty as the newest officers of the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology,” President Duterte said.
Likewise, the President expressed his gratitude towards the PNP for being at the forefront of his Administration’s campaign against illegal drugs and criminality, and for playing a key role in maintaining law and order in the country especially amid the pandemic.
“Tandaan ninyo ‘yan, government worker tayong lahat. Bayad tayo ng mga tao sa Pilipinas kaya tayo nandito. Each and everyone of us has something to give to the country,” the Commander-in-Chief remarked.
“But most of all sabi ko, let us be thankful to the people, ‘yang amo natin ang tao. Iyon ang nagbibigay ng suweldo sa atin eh. For that alone, malaman mo talaga na worker ka ng government to serve the public interest and nothing more,” President Duterte ended. Alab-Kalis stands for ‘Alagad ng Batas na Kakalinga sa Sinilangang Bayan’. Police Cadet Ernie Padernilla, who hails from Passi City, Iloilo, came out as the Class Valedictorian for this year’s PNPA Commencement Exercises.
