President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held a meeting on the Marawi rehabilitation efforts at the Heroes Hall in Malacañan Palace.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario, who is also Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson, presented the Marawi rehabilitation timeline, accomplishments and challenges to President Duterte.

Likewise, Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go discussed the recent public hearing of the Senate’s Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation held in Iligan City and reported the issues raised in the inquiry to the Chief Executive.  During the said hearing, Senator Go proposed the meeting in Malacañan Palace to thresh out the problems and provide a ‘final solution’ in order for the rehabilitation to be completed within President Duterte’s term.

The Chief Executive listened intently to the representatives of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and addressed their concerns to the heads of national government agencies involved in the Marawi rehabilitation.  He also outlined several commitments of the government and vowed to fast track these projects.

Several Cabinet members headed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as well as Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa (Chairperson, Senate Special Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation), Senator Maria Imelda Josefa ‘Imee’ Marcos, Senator Francis Tolentino and Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra also attended the event.
