President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the celebration of the 120-year presence of the Baptist Churches in the Philippines held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
In his keynote address, the President extended his congratulations to the community and acknowledged their significant contributions and valuable efforts in maintaining lasting peace in the country.
“By always seeking to express God’s love in the pursuit of justice, righteous, governance, progress and prosperity for all Filipinos, you have enabled our people to see the fulfillment of the purpose in your fellowship,” he said.
“I likewise hope and pray that you remain a vibrant, inclusive, and growing church community that is relentless in serving our people, especially those who are most in need…With the adversaries we are facing both here and abroad, we are called now more than ever to stand together in faith, prayer, and unity,” President Duterte continued.
In a press release from the Bible Believers League of Morality and Democracy (BIBLEMODE), the Baptists first came to the Philippines in May 1900 and established the Ministry in Iloilo. The day’s gathering served as recognition of the Baptists’ significant presence in the country for over 120 years.
