President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with Member State Leaders, assembled for the Plenary Session of the 34th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha of Thailand, this year’s Summit carries the theme, ‘Advancing Partnerships for Sustainability’, which is focused on addressing regional and international issues affecting the ASEAN Member States, and usher in economic and political stability within the 10-member regional bloc alongside its dialogue partners.

The ASEAN Heads of State/Government are expected to sign 16 outcome documents, four (4) of which are to be adopted: ASEAN Leaders’ Vision on Partnership for Sustainability, Bangkok Declaration in Combatting Marine Debris in ASEAN Region, ASEAN Leaders’ Statements on the ASEAN Cultural Year for 2019, and ASEAN Indo-Pacific Outlook.
