President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived at the Haneda International Airport in Tokyo to commence his third visit to Japan.
Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose Laurel V, Deputy Chief of Mission Eduardo Meñez of the Philippine Embassy in Japan, and Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Gleen Albert Laguardia welcomed President Duterte upon his arrival.
Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Toshiko Abe, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda and his spouse Ihoko Haneda, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Chief of Protocol Kiminori Iwama, and Second Southeast Asia Division Director Shingo Miyamoto also warmly greeted the Chief Executive.
From the airport, President Duterte proceeded to the Imperial Hotel where he was greeted by some of his Cabinet members.
The Chief Executive is set to deliver a keynote address at the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia on May 31, 2019. With the theme, ‘Seeking a New Global Order – Overcoming the Chaos,’ the two-day forum convenes Heads of States, government and political leaders, business executives, and academics from the Asia-Pacific region to talk about their assessments on the regional issues and the role of Asia to the world.
