Deemed as one of the largest and busiest posts in Foreign Service of the Philippines, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, Japan represents seven significant agencies of the government — the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Located at Roppongi Minato-ku in Tokyo, the Philippine Embassy continues fulfilling its mandate of fostering the welfare of the Filipinos in Japan along with its task of continually promoting national security, development, and diplomacy. The Philippine Embassy is currently led by His Excellency Jose Laurel V, Philippine Ambassador to Japan.

According to Ambassador Laurel, there are about 285,000 Filipinos in Japan who are working in various fields such as entertainment, banking, engineering, and others.
