President Rodrigo Roa Duterte witnessed the exchange of several business agreements between the Government of the Philippines and Chinese conglomerates and businessmen, which he considered a ‘vote of confidence’ in the growth and prospects of the Philippine economy.

A total of 19 business agreements were exchanged in a ceremony that President Duterte attended at the Grand Hyatt Beijing in China. These agreements covered various areas of cooperation such as energy sustainability, telecommunication services, infrastructure development, tourism cooperation, and export goods, among others.

In his speech, President Duterte said that the Philippine government guarantees a more comfortable and enabling environment that allows businesses and investments to grow and prosper. He vowed to strengthen domestic policies and regulations that promote ease of doing business and enhancing the competitiveness of new enterprises and industries.

Because of this, he encouraged foreign businessmen to invest in the Philippines.

“That is the reason why I am asking everybody for his utmost cooperation. I guarantee you that there will be no hassles, no asking for money, no nothing. And if you think that the permit or the concession privilege about to be given is unduly delayed, please let me know,” the Chief Executive promised.

In the end, he thanked both Filipino and Chinese nations for the growing economic exchanges, saying it is a proof of stronger ties between the two nations.

“Thank you for taking part in this Philippine growth story and in partnering with our government as we pursue inclusive growth and shared prosperity for our people,” President Duterte stated.
