President Benigno S. Aquino III delivered his keynote address at the formal presentation of the Universal Kindergarten Bill into law, – the Republic Act (R.A.) 10157, giving the Department of Education more elbow room to institutionalize reforms in basic education which include the implementation of the universal kindergarten program in all public schools.
The law will provide equal opportunities for all children to avail of accessible mandatory and compulsory kindergarten education that effectively promotes physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and skills stimulation and values formation to sufficiently prepare them for formal education.
For the school year 2012-2013, kindergarten education shall be made mandatory and compulsory for entrance to Grade 1.
