President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held a closed-door meeting with United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo at the Kalayaan Lounge in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The Secretary of State was accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Yong Kim, Senior Bureau Official W. Patrick Murphy of the U.S. Department of State, and Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino of the U.S. Department of State.

Also present during the meeting were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr., Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Philippine Ambassador to the U.S. Jose Manuel Romualdez, and Presidential Spokesperson and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Secretary Salvador Panelo.

The Secretary of State is in the country from February 28 to March 1 to discuss the Philippines and U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty, security and terrorism, among others.
