President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Change of Command Ceremony for outgoing PAF Commanding General, Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar, at the Villamor Air Base (VAB) in Pasay City.

In his speech, President Duterte cited the accomplishments of the nation’s airmen and women during the term of Lt. Gen. Kintanar that included thousands of flight hours, performed thousands of sorties, ferried almost 160,000 passengers, and airlifted more than 160,000 pounds of cargo ‘in support of our territorial defense and security operations.’

According to the President, the PAF also achieved the highest rating of ‘Excellent’ in the whole Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) during the Annual General Inspection conducted by the Office of the AFP Inspector General. Under the leadership of Lt. Gen. Kintanar, the PAF contributed to peace and security during the rehabilitation of Marawi City, conducted humanitarian efforts during the onslaught of recent typhoons and disasters, and supported the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Likewise, the Commander-in-Chief urged the newly designated Philippine Air Force Commanding General, Lieutenant General Rozzano Briguez, to lead the country’s airmen and women to ‘intensify our focused military operations against the communist terrorists, alongside civil-military operations to encourage more members of the communist terrorist groups to surrender.’

Prior to this appointment, Lt. Gen. Briguez led the Western Command (WESCOM) stationed in Palawan. He is also a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Sinagtala’ Class of 1986.
