President Rodrigo Roa Duterte hosted a state banquet in honor of President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China during the latter’s first State Visit in the country.

In his message, President Duterte said he is optimistic that the Philippines and China will sustain the momentum of both countries’ relations and friendship.

“I am hopeful that through our cooperation, opportunities for greater collaboration will further promote the prosperity and success of our nations, and contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region,” the President said.

He affirmed that both leaders are committed to forge and maintain a new legacy of friendship and cooperation, emphasizing that they will work together in consolidating the ties of the two nations.

President Xi Jinping is on his State Visit to the Philippines from November 20-21, 2018. This is the first visit of a Chinese leader in the country after 13 years.
