President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joined his fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders in the Closing Ceremony of the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.

The three-day Summit tackled the ASEAN Community building, addressing security threats, forging peaceful and rules based regional order, establishment of the resilience, response and recovery framework that would enhance counter-terrorism cooperation, and e-commerce that would facilitate online cross-border transaction.

The Closing Ceremony also highlighted the turnover of the ASEAN Chairmanship to the Kingdom of Thailand that was witnessed by President Duterte and the rest of the ASEAN Leaders. With the theme, ‘Advancing Partnership for Sustainability,’ the 2019 ASEAN Summit shall focus on preparing for unprecedented changes that would further connect the ASEAN Community to the rest of the world.
