President Rodrigo Roa Duterte participated in the 6th Association of Southeast Asian Nations — United States of America (ASEAN-US) Summit on the third day of the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.

In his opening statement, ASEAN Chairman Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore conveyed that frequent high-level exchanges between the ASEAN and USA are important for the security, prosperity, and economic development of the region.

The Prime Minister also talked on the strong economic ties between the two, with the U.S.A being the third largest trading partner of the ASEAN region.
