November 13, 2018

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, together with his fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Leaders, convened for a working dinner hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.

Prime Minister Loong, who chairs this year’s event, conveyed ASEAN’s three dominant trends that are shaping the region. These trends include the ASEAN countries “retreating from multilateralism and globalization”, as well as the impact of digital technologies “revolutionizing the way we live, work and play, and interact with each other”, and the growing “non-traditional transnational threats” which include cyber attack and terrorism.

Anchored on “resilience and innovation” as this year’s theme, leaders and representatives of the 10 ASEAN Member Countries are gathered to discuss economic, trade, security, investment, and development opportunities in the region.
