President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recognized the 16 organizations that demonstrated performance excellence during the 2015-2017 Philippine Quality Award (PQA) conferment ceremony at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace.

“Today, we are honoring 16 awardees of the Recognitions for Proficiency and Commitment to Quality Management for the years 2015-2017. I congratulate each of these organizations for their excellence in quality management and overall organizational performance. I enjoin all of you to continue being an inspiration to your respective sectors and industries. Appreciate the value of sharing your best practices so that other organizations may learn and reach their full potentials,” the President said.

The 18th Cycle PQA Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management recipients included Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas, the Thomson Reuters Corporation Pte. Ltd-Philippine Branch, Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), and National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

Meanwhile, the PQA Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management awardees were Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba, Mindanao Corrugated Fibreboard, Inc., City Government of Tanauan in Batangas, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IV-A, Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and University of the Philippines-National Engineering Center (UP-NEC).

The Holy Angel University bagged the PQA Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management in 2016. While in 2017, the PQA honorees were the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IX, Reed Elsevier Shares Philippines Inc., and University of Mindanao.

In his speech before the awardees, PQA Board of Judges, Assessors, and its Executive and Management Committee, the Chief Executive lauded the commitment of the organizers to organizational efficiency across various sectors.

“Know that your efforts toward performance excellence is aligned with the government’s efforts to make our country more globally competitive,” he said.

President Duterte also urged the guests of the event to scale up their efforts in promoting firm-level competitiveness in their respective industries.

“Together, let us work towards achievements of our sustainable development goals for a stronger economy and a brighter future for the Filipino people,” he added.

Serving as the ‘template for competitiveness,’ the PQA Program is a national award program that seeks to encourage private and public organizations, and other stakeholders, to strive for performance excellence by recognizing their notable organizational development and achievement.
