His Excellency Eduardo Jose A. de Vega is the current Ambassador of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Belgium.

In the interview, Ambassador de Vega said that he looks forward in welcoming Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. in his first visit overseas since assuming his new position.

The Ambassador discussed how the Philippines values its long-standing partnership with the European Union (EU) and its pursuit in continuing friendly and constructive dialogue to further strengthen bilateral relations with the EU. “However, like any partnership it will need to undergo adjustments based on the evolving nature of each party’s circumstances and national priorities,” Ambassador de Vega added.

With the upcoming 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Brussels, Belgium from 18-19 October 2018, Ambassador Eduardo Jose de Vega is optimistic that the boost given by the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) to the Philippines-European Union trade, combined with the strong economic fundamentals of the Philippines, would pave the way in furthering bilateral free trade agreements.
