Philippine Ambassador Akmad Atlah Sakkam discusses President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s historic three-day Official Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (HJK) in an interview at the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan.

Among the topics discussed is the President’s agenda in his visit where he is scheduled to meet with His Royal Highness King Abdullah II. Both leaders are expected to create several agreements that would strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations, including defense cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Akmad Atlah Sakkam, a Moro and the second Tausug lawyer appointed by President Duterte, is a long-time serving diplomat spanning 15 years as Ambassador in Iraq, Bahrain and Oman. He was also a recipient of the highly coveted Special Presidential Award of Merit given by the late President Corazon C. Aquino after successfully evacuating thousands of overseas Filipino workers at the height of the first Gulf War in 1991. He also served under the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) from 2014 to 2016.
