“Today marks a milestone for one of the leading pioneers in the country’s automotive industry. I therefore warmly congratulate Toyota Motor Philippines on the occasion of its 30th anniversary,” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as he keynoted the 30th anniversary celebration of Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) Corporation at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Manila in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City.

During the course of the program, President Duterte received the keys of the 30 brand new vehicles handed over by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda and TMP Vice Chairman Alfred Ty as donation to the government. The vehicles, which will be turned over to the Office of the President (OP), represent TMP’s 30 years of committed passion and service to the Philippine nation. Furthermore, the company added three (3) more units of Toyota Hi-Ace vehicles to the original number of donated vehicles.

In his speech, President Duterte acknowledged TMP’s role in the success of the automotive industry in the country that positively impacted the economy. He also assured the business community that the government would help secure their investments as long as they obey the laws and safeguard the people.

“Toyota Motor [Philippines] is not only a leader in the production of quality vehicles. It is also a major driver of our economy, encouraging investments that spur national development. It is also a key generator of employment, nurturing the skills and talents of over 55,000 employees,” he said.

“The corporation has also been a government’s steadfast partner in many initiatives such as the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy Program or CARS,” the President added.

TMP was incorporated on August 3, 1998 as a joint venture of the GT Capital Holdings, Inc., Toyota Motor Corporation, and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Since then, the company developed to what is now the largest automotive company in the country.
