Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Jose Santiago ‘Chito’ Sta. Romana discusses the significance of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s participation to the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2018 in Boao, a coastal town in China’s southern island province of Hainan.
Ambassador Sta. Romana tackles the gains and benefits that the Philippines would acquire from participating in the conference given this year’s theme of ‘An Open and Innovative Asia for A World of Greater Prosperity’.
The Philippine envoy to China also describes the current state of bilateral and diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as the areas of cooperation that the two nations are improving on.
Ambassador Jose Santiago ‘Chito’ Sta. Romana is an award-winning journalist who served as the Beijing Bureau Chief of ABC News. In 2000, he received an Emmy Award in the news and documentary category. He also lectured on Chinese politics at the Asian Center in the University of the Philippines Diliman.
