The BFA International Convention Center located in Boao, Hainan Province, People’s Republic of China serves as the permanent site of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference. Since its formal inauguration on February 27, 2001, the BFA has become a high-end platform for dialogues among various government leaders, industrial and business experts, entrepreneurs, and academic scholars to discuss Asia’s economy, society, environment and other relevant issues.

The southern island of Hainan Province in China was particularly chosen by China’s former leaders to be the permanent site of the BFA Headquarters since Hainan is the largest special economic zone in the country. They envisioned Hainan to become an ecology-based province and deepen its connection with the international community. The town of Boao, in particular, was especially designed for the BFA offering conference and exhibition services, tourism, and leisure spending.
